Storage and Service

Our client, Ori Art Gallery located in the historic Mississippi St. row in North Portland needed a new storage building that could accommodate the needs of future community events. The first step was dismantling the small plastic shed they had been using which had been vandalized.

The design needed to be both beautiful and secure. So we designed a generously sized 6ft x 10ft building with a corrugated poly skylight to allow natural light in the daytime. Secured the door which is a hefty 4ft x 7ft swing with a powder coated steel latch and deadbolt. The client also needed this build on a floating foundation to enable it to be moved within the yard as they expand their renovations.

We leveled the structure using concrete pavers to provide the gap needed to lift the building on a fork lift when they are ready to move it.

The shed was framed out at 16 on center, clad in 3/4” exterior rated OSB and wrapped in water resistant house wrap membrane. The exterior siding is a blend of reclaimed cedar courtesy of our beloved local architectural salvage store The ReBuliding Center, and primed Radiata Pine sheath. The finishing touches leveled up this little shed’s aesthetic to one befitting it’s location. Utilizing Sherwin-Williams Latitude™ Exterior Acrylic Latex paint in Black allowed us to seal the trim and siding despite the damp fall weather.
